This client is a major, publicly held, global insurance company.  They currently have a key position in their corporate HQ in Cincinnati, OH for a Sr. Risk Governance and Control Analyst.  This position will support the ERM framework that ensures risk management strategies, policies and procedures, implementing risk tolerance and guidance for risk assessments.  This position will be involved of all aspects of the ERM framework.  This would include innovation and new products as well as risk identification, reporting, controls, governance, strategy and adhoc risk management projects.  This individual will have some travel throughout the US to the company's operating units. 

Qualifications - Candidates must be US citizens or permanent green card holders.  NO SPONSORSHIP IS AVAILABLE!  Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Risk Management, 10+ years of insurance / re-insurance or other business experience with the emphasis on risk management, CPA+, strong knowledge of financial metrics used in insurance and industry data sources. 

The ideal candidate for this position is highly versatile and able to multi task, while learning all aspects of the ERM framework.  They will be involved in innovation & new products as well as risk identification, reporting, controls, governance, strategy and ad hoc risk management projects.  
Other major accountabilities are to:

  • Create and implement risk management policies reflecting company, rating agency and regulatory requirements for the company's legal entities
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of organizational processes and the risks and controls and recommend changes in process or controls.
  • Identify and analyze business scenarios which negatively impact financial metrics (i.e., income, capital, liquidity) and recommend solutions and risk mitigation strategies
  • Build and maintain a network of internal risk management contacts
  • Solicit feedback on policies, synthesize in policy updates, explain/justify to Risk Management Committee and influence the approval

  • Bachelors degree in e.g. Business (Accounting, Finance), Economics, Mathematics, Risk Management
  • At least 10 years of Insurance/Reinsurance experience or other business experience with emphasis on risk management preferred
  • CPA a plus
  • Strong knowledge of (re)insurance & products, financial metrics used in insurance and industry data sources.
  • Broad knowledge of insurance company processes and functions.
  • Requires strong teamwork skills in order to collaborate and build strong relationships with co-workers and internal clients to support development and implementation of solutions for identified gaps in risk management.
  • The ability to manage extensive team of senior & middle managers that do not report directly to you.
  • Project management skills: plans, organizes, motivates, and controls resources to achieve specified project goals and objectives while respecting defined constraints
  • Decision making skills: Solicits and objectively considers input from appropriate sources; considers implications of actions on other areas, people, and processes when making a decision
  • Communication skills: clear and concise verbally and in writing using appropriate language and examples
  • Agility: adapts approaches that are appropriate for each situation, accepts and adapts to new situations
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a remote team, some travel required.
